Many well-known colleges in America were originally founded by Christians who wanted to provide an excellent academic education and also to educate our youth in biblical principles. Harvard was named after a Christian minister, John Harvard. Yale was started by Puritan clergymen, and Princeton’s first year of class was taught by Reverend Jonathan Dickinson. Unfortunately, these educational institutions have drifted away from that which they were originally designed.

Many schools including elementary, high schools and colleges in America have abandoned classical education for a system designed to indoctrinate its students into the religion of secular humanism.  This has resulted in a vast educational void in America that is growing.

SGI’s Action Plan

We at Seventh Generation Initiative recognize the problem and have accepted the challenge of fighting it. Currently we are implementing an action plan to resist and overcome this blight on our education system in America.

We are pushing forward to re-institute a system of education that gives parents an alternative to schools that have strayed from their classical and Christian historical foundations.

We will establish campuses on which we offer Christian preschools. Our preschool graduates will then flow into our charter schools. These schools will not only provide an exceptional education for children, but provide new churches with a connection into the community. Essentially they will serve together in providing their community with the necessary foundations for a healthy culture.

The Schools are Our Battle Ground

Today’s schools are the battlegrounds in which our youth are being indoctrinated into a Godless culture and relativistic mindset known as political correctness. Rather than concentrating on the fundamentals of education public schools are giving way to secular humanism and anti-Christian indoctrination.

Through this system of education we have produced politicians, educators and even pastors who are moral relativists who blur the lines of what is right and what is wrong. Secular humanists are currently succeeding in controlling the future of our nation through this indoctrination. Furthermore, the Common Core method of teaching deliberately dumbs-down children and creates unnecessary and complicated methods for working out relatively simple problems.

As Christians we have failed in fighting the good fight. Collectively we have become lukewarm concerning social issues and we are now suffering the consequences as our youth disconnect from church. This detrimental effect on our youth is due to our being intimidated by those wish to press upon them a godless philosophy of education.

We have allowed prayer and the Bible to be marginalized, we have allowed the value of life to be minimized through elective abortion and we have allowed the Genesis account of creation to be discredited by the state sponsored religion of evolution. In addition to a moral decline in our society, this trend has resulted in our students lagging behind the rest of the industrial world regarding mathematics and science.

The more money we throw into public education the worse it seems to get. The solution is not more money but a return to classical and Christian education. Adding to the challenge is that the average church wrongly views itself to be no longer a responsible participant in the educational system.

Do Christians Have a Responsibility Regarding Education?

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. – Proverb 22:6

At what point did it make sense to turn our children over to a system that rejects God and seeks to control our youth?  As Christians our responsibilities are to make sure that we not only train our children in good fundamental academics but also in the most godly manner possible.  We should no longer allow unbelievers to teach our children ungodly philosophies.

The great scientific revolution of years past was led by Christians who sought to discover the wonders of God through His creation. They simply sought to figure out how God brought into existence and maintained His world and universe. We need to take the lead again.

We Need Your Participation

We cannot meet this challenge alone. We need your support both prayerfully and financially. We’re depending upon God’s people to join us in turning back the tide of secular humanism so that the hearts and minds of our youth will be receptive to the words of God.
